Yorkshire Shorts Film Programme Includes:

  1. BEYOND THE HORIZON
    Yolandé Haynes | 4 mins | Doncaster
    A short film following a fisherman on his search for serenity. Jason Owen is a charter skipper who takes anglers out on his boat to fish for varies species, whilst fishing on his own he finds his freedom.
  2. CUSHIONS
    Gary I Mitchell | 6 mins | Hull
    A conceptual short that utilises tone and composition to create a surreal sense of introversion and self reflection.
  3. TWO MEN IN A SHED
    Mark Richardson | 20 mins | Hull
    Russ Litten is Hull’s finest writer. He has published three outstanding novels. Steve Cobby is one of Hull’s finest musicians. For 30 years Steve has been producing innovative music that defies categorisation. This film documents the result of their collaboration. In the autumn of 2016 they released the album MY PEOPLE COME FROM THE SEA. The film includes interviews with COBBY and LITTEN, music from the album, and live footage from their public performances.
  4. THE SEA MONSTER’S FUNERAL
    Michael Turnbull | 22 mins | Leeds
    A phone sex operator grapples with the pact she made to help a mad man save his daughter from the clutches of a sea monster.
  5. THE EX
    Martin Stocks/Gareth Brown | 7 mins | Sheffield
    Gerald’s first date with Jessica is at her apartment. Arriving a little early, he pours himself a glass of wine to steady his nerves as he waits for her. When he notices a framed photograph of Jessica and another man he thinks it’s slightly odd – but then he hears an aggressive man’s voice coming from the photo frame.
  6. TOLL BOOTH
    Martin Stocks | 11 mins | Sheffield
    Terry starts working in an isolated toll booth on the Yorkshire moors, following his predecessor’s disappearance. His suspicions intensify throughout the night, finding out more disturbing details from the local odd-balls driving by. Exploring the foggy darkness, Terry makes a terrifying discovery.
  7. RYAN TUCKER: SHOKOTAN
    Edward Naylor | 9 mins | Leeds
    Shotokan Karate Champion, Ryan Tucker takes us through his lifelong pursuit of the sport in preparation for the 2016 European Championships in Greece. A captivating, personal insight into a fierce discipline of combat and respect.
  8. RESIDUE OF A RELATIONSHIP
    Brett Chapman | 15 mins | Barnsley
    The Residue of a Relationship is a short film that looks at the leftovers of love and tries to piece together what it all means. It follows a real-world love story from its inception through to a conclusion in a thoroughly modern tale of romance in the 21st century.

This screening does not include any adverts or trailers, with the film beginning just after the advertised start time of 3:00pm, preceded by a brief introduction.

Doors to the screening room will open around 10 minutes before the performance starts.
