Book a BFI NETWORK 1-2-1 Film Funding Surgery

BFI NETWORK has recently launched their exciting new film funding offer for new writers, directors and producers based in the North with a creative track record: The funding is open to live action and animation ideas, it’s rolling and you can apply for up to £15,000 for short film production and £1,500 to develop an early feature idea into a treatment.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the new funding on offer or have a film project you’d like to discuss then there’s an opportunity for you to book a 1-2-1 surgery with Alice Ramsey, BFI NETWORK Talent Executive, during Hull Film Festival on Thursday 5 July from 12pm at Hull Truck Theatre. Alice is particularly keen to hear from underrepresented voices working in the creative industries who are interested in film. The only requirements you need to be eligible for a surgery are:

  • Based in the North of England
  • Haven’t had a feature film produced and distributed
  • A creative track record. This could be student work, or something created at a grassroots/non-professional level, and it may be in film, television, theatre or another artform.
  • You need to be over 18 and not in full-time education

The booking system works on a first-come first-served basis, but don’t worry if you’re unable to book yourself onto a surgery this time around, there will be other opportunities across the region in the coming months. If you need to cancel your surgery for whatever reason, please contact
